Last week a television trailer, revealing Shawty Lo (rapper most known for single, “Dey Know”) and his 11 baby mamas’ forthcoming reality show. The show was entitled “All My Baby Mamas”, would feature Shawty Lo, the mother of his children and was slated to hit the Oxygen Network… The entertainment industry and twitter reacted adversely to the announcement. Not soon after, rumors of the impending train-wreck of a show being cancelled surfaced. Shawty Lo‘s twitter petition to reverse the cancellation, and now I guess the show has now be (unfortunately) un-cancelled?
Last week, via The Hollywood Reporter from the Oxygen Network:As part of our development process, we have reviewed casting and decided not to move forward with the special. We will continue to develop compelling content that resonates with our young female viewers and drives the cultural conversation.”
An Oxygen rep told AHH: “This rumor is simply untrue. The project remains in early development.”
If there was no cancellation, why was Shawty Lo petitioning? It’s unfortunate that the show has been returned (or uncancelled). And to appease viewers I am sure that Shawty Lo‘s ‘All My Babies’ Mamas’ reality show will be filled with ratchetness galore, but I have no intention of tuning in and watching it. How crazy is it that a one-hit wonder of a rapper has some how managed to impregnate 11 different women with 14 different children and Oxygen is giving him the platform to glorify his buffoonery? Does the board at Oxygen even know what Shawty Lo is famous for? Have they ever heard “Dey Know”? Does Lo even rap anymore? Yet somehow he has his own show… There is so much deplorative programming on television, I’d rather visit PartyCasino.com. Versus forcibly decreasing my intelligence and subjecting myself to watching “All My Babies’ Mamas”.
