Mac Miller takes to the J. Hill-produced “Someone Like You” record which samples Adele’s track, with the same title. Don’t expect the typical Miller flow, with a slowed bpm, Mac takes to the record in a fashion like never before… “Someone Like You” is slated to appear on Miller and Pharrell’s collaborative project, Pink Slime, due out before the end of the year.
As one of the most prominent men in hip-hop, what do you do to prepare for your huge self-managed and promoted two-day music festival? Take a helicopter ride with your infant daughter… Last night, Jay-Z and his daughter Blue Ivy, took to Philadelphia (where Jay’s festival is being held), via helicopter. Not quite sure if riding on a helicopter is a safe means of transportation for an 8 month old, but the daddy-daughter pictures are adorable!
Harlem’s very own, Max B finally got his court day of appeals. Unfortunately for him the tide didn’t fall in his favor… Max B’s 2009 murder and robbery conviction will be upheld, and he will not be released from Trenton State Prison until 2042. Upon release he will be age 62. So that is pretty much the ned of whatever was left of his rap career. — Truth be told, a lot of rappers get caught up in the struggle of living the ‘street life’ or needing to “validate their street cred”. In the case of Max B, he committed a crime and irregardless of how talented he was as an emcee, it didn’t save him from having to now serve over 30 years in jail. Street cred is not worth it. Ludacris is hosting his annual Luda Day Weekend in Atlanta this weekend, and in celebration released his new single “Representing” featuring Kelly Rowland… The track is descent, and the two definitely sound good together. — “Representing” is off of Luda’s forthcoming Ludaversal album, and if the rest of the rest of the project sounds remotely like this, we’ll definitely be in for a smooth ride.
